 नेवार समुदायमा छोरीको ३ पटक विवाह गरिन्छ। पहिलो 'इहिं' अर्थात् बेलसँग विवाह; दोस्रो 'बारा तयेगु' अर्थात् गुफा राख्ने जस्लाई सूर्यदर्शन पनि भनिन्छ र यसमा सूर्यसँग विवाह गरिन्छ भने तेस्रो लोग्नेमान्छेसँग गरिन्छ। नेवार समुदायका महिलाले तिजको समयमा व्रत बस्नु पर्दैन किनकि नेवार कन्याको बाल्यअवस्थामा नै भगवान सुबर्ण कुमारसंग वैदिकतन्त्र निर्देशनअनुसार इही संस्कार सम्पन्न भई कहिले पनि बिधवा नहुने शास्त्रीय मान्यता प्राप्त गरेका हुन्छन्। यस्तो अवस्थामा तीजको व्रत लिई पुन: सौभाग्यका लागि व्रत बसी कामना गर्नुपर्ने आवश्यक्ता हुँदैन भनिएकाे छ। आजकल केही नेवार महिलाहरुले अरुहरुको देखासिकी गर्दै तिजको ब्रत बस्न थालेकाे पनि पाईन्छ। रहरले यो व्रत बसेको हाे भने अर्कै कुरा, तर अज्ञानताबस बसेकाे हाे भने त्यो नेवारी परम्परा, संस्कृति र धर्म-संस्कारसंग मेल नखाएकाे मानिन्छ।त्यसैले नवारले तिज मनाउनु भनेको अनफ्नो खेत बाजो राखेर अरुको खेत खन्न जानू जतिकै हो।।

In the Newar community, a daughter is married 3 times. First 'ihin' i.e. marriage with Bel; The second one is 'Bara Tayegu' i.e. the one who keeps the cave which is also known as Surya Darshan and in this marriage is done with Surya and the third one is with a human being. Women of the Newar community do not have to fast during Tij, because Newar girls have received the classical recognition that they will never become widows after completing this ritual with Lord Subarna Kumar as per the instructions of Baidikatantra. In such a situation, it is said that there is no need to fast on Teej and pray for good luck again. Nowadays, some Newar women are also found to be observing tija fast while impersonating others. It is a different thing if one observes this fast with passion, but if one observes it in ignorance, it is considered incompatible with the Newari tradition, culture and religion. Therefore, celebrating Tij with a Newari is like going to dig someone else's field by keeping a plow.
